Elsie Thomas Hitchings, 55, a retired accounting manager for General Motors Acceptance Corp. (G.M.A.C.), died Feb. 11, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Hitchings was born in Norfolk County. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was a devoted wife and mother who is now with Jesus. She was predeceased by a brother, James Thomas.
Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Hitchings of Chesapeake; three sons, Allen Hitchings, Stephen Hitchings and Stuart Hitchings, all of Chesapeake; seven sisters, Dorothy Hudson, Lois Hill and Norma Brinn, all of Virginia Beach, Ann Powers of Moyock, N.C., Betty Antley of Raleigh, N.C., Jeanette Johnson of Richmond and Carol Bradshaw of Norfolk; two half sisters, Birtie Jones of Norfolk and Alice Moseman of Chesapeake; and three grandchildren, Lacey Hitchings, Kaitlyn Hitchings and Corey Hitchings, all of Chesapeake.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Immanuel Baptist Church by Pastor Dave Libengood. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
