John X. Schaefer, 91, of the 800 block of Poplar Hall Drive, a retired certified public accountant, died Feb. 11, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mr. Schaefer was born in New Baden, Ill. He had retired from the United States government after 30 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 18 years, Ella Louise Campbell Schaefer, and his second wife of 32 years, Neva Smith Schaefer. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in Patterson, N.J., and received a B.A. degree from Washington University.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Ann S. Reynolds of Roxboro, N.C.; a son, Dr. John C. Schaefer of Norfolk; a sister, Irma Nagle of Belleville, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Brie Schaefer and Dana Michelle, both of Norfolk, and Jack L. Reynolds II of Columbia, S.C.
Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Burial will take place at a later date.
