Maebell Edwards Cooper, 78, of the 500 block of Beacon Road, died Feb. 12, 1995, in Portsmouth.
She was a native of Chocowinity, N.C., and was the widow of William H. Cooper Sr. She was a member of Collinswood Baptist Church and Cradock Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include her children, a son, Russell Hill of Portsmouth; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Don Smith of Bergenfield, N.J., and a son and daughter-in-law, William H. Jr. and Regina Cooper of Madison, Ala.; three sisters, Lonie Boyd of North Carolina, Ethel Lee Lupton of South Carolina and Edna Teall of Georgia; two brothers, I.H. Edwards Jr. and Clarence Edwards, both of North Carolina; and four grandsons, Dona and David Smith, Will and Ben Cooper.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Jack Stallings. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
