Vada B. Prevatte, 74, of Smithfield, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 1995. Born in Lumberton, N.C., she was a resident of the Peninsula for 45 years.
She is survived by her sons, Bobby Prevatt and James H. Prevatte Sr., both of Smithfield and Gary M. Prevatte of Zuni; her sisters, Lillian Clewis of Chesapeake, Rachel Trottier of Philadelphia, Pa. and Linda Paulhames of Villas, N.J.; her brothers, Hubert Barnes of Lumberton and William Frank Barnes of Asheville, N.C.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel by the Rev. Russell O. Leonard. Burial will be in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.
