C. Coleman McGehee, former chairman of Sovran Bank, has died while on vacation in Barbados, West Indies, with his wife, Caroline.
No further details about the cause or time of death were immediately available.
McGehee, 70, lived in Richmond and was president of the Country Club of Virginia at the time of his death.
In a statement Monday, Randolph W. McElroy, president of NationsBank of Virginia, said, ``Coleman McGehee, who spent his entire career with one institution, was a leader in the Virginia banking industry.
He retired in 1989.
In addition to his wife, McGehee is survived by two sons, Stephen Y. McGehee of Atlanta and Carden C. McGehee of Bethesda, Md.; and one daughter, Margaret F.V. McGehee of Richmond.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete.
