Old Dominion University's largest academic building was evacuated Monday afternoon after fuel oil spilled from broken metal tubing in a boiler room, officials said.
ODU spokeswoman Beth Cooper said the Batten Arts and Letters Building was cleared at 2:30 p.m. after someone smelled oil. Firefighters and the school's risk management officials cleaned the spill and found no traces by late afternoon. The small amount of oil that spilled posed no danger, Cooper said.
The building was scheduled to be reheated Monday night, and classes will resume on a regular schedule today, Cooper said. by CNB
