GM recalls Cavaliers and Sunfires: General Motors Corp. announced Monday it is recalling 34,000 1995 Chevrolet Cavaliers and Pontiac Sunfires to inspect welds on a suspension component. GM said a small percentage of the cars may have been assembled with some welds omitted. GM said it has received seven reports of missing welds, but none involved accidents or injuries. Lower control arms on vehicles with missing welds could break, leaving the car disabled. (AP)
Ford recalls vans for spare tire problem: Ford Motor Co. said it is recalling 11,200 1995 Ford Aerostars because of a possible problem with the vans' spare tires. The company said some of the vans have a mini-spare that might not fit properly into the underbody tire carrier. That might cause them to come into contact with a brake line, possibly damaging it.
