I disagree with staff writer Jack Dorsey concerning berthing USS Missouri as an attraction here at Nauticus. The ship would also tie in with the MacArthur Memorial.
In addition to a tourist attraction, the ship could be used as an annex to our local jail. If the crew's mess galley is intact, it could support a large quality restaurant. Navy-type meals could be offered to tourists.
In the winter some of the crew's berthing spaces could be opened to the homeless.
It is true that many Navy ships are open for tours. But few are historically important. It may be that other uses can be found. It is worth looking into.
