Regarding ``Assembly rips up Allen's budget'' (news, Feb. 3): I question House Speaker Tom Moss Jr.'s purpose.
Am I mistaken in the assumption that elected officials are supposed to represent the people in making decisions in the best interest of the commonwealth of Virginia?
It appears that Moss feels his purpose is to oppose any legislation that Governor Allen supports. To quote Moss: ``The fact that he (Allen) wants it makes me against it.''
Is this Moss' litmus test for proposed legislation, instead of judging the legislation on its own merit?
