SFC George E. Adams, of the 400 block of Ivy Crescent, died Feb. 14, 1995, in Virginia.
He was born in Elhark, Texas, and was a member of Grapeland Baptist Church, Grapeland, Texas. He was a motor vehicle operator with the U.S. Postal Service and retired from the Army in 1986 after 22 years. He was a recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth B. Adams; a daughter, Basha Lee of Virginia Beach; two sons, Daris Lee and Devonne Adams, both of Chesapeake; eight sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Ethelrine Adams and his father, George Adams.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethany Baptist Church, 2587 Campostella Road by the Rev. Jake Manley. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will assemble at 408 Ivy Crescent, Chesapeake, at 10 a.m. Saturday. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
