A man who had been shot in the head escaped his assailants by jumping from a moving car as it headed east on the Virginia Beach-Norfolk Expressway on Thursday, state police said.
Curtis L. Brown Jr., 31, of the 700 block of Wiley Ave. in Norfolk, was treated for his injuries at Virginia Beach General Hospital.
He was listed in serious condition.
State police were looking for a red or burgundy Plymouth Horizon with 30-day tags. Two men were in the car when it was last seen heading east from the toll plaza toward the Oceanfront.
The shooting occurred about 2:25p.m. near Mount Trashmore. Brown jumped out of the right, rear door of the car.
State police said the reason for the shooting was not clear.
