``Support the Personal Protection Act'' (Another View, Feb. 5) was right on the mark.
Our criminal-justice system is not working. Everyday there are more and more stories of convicted felons freed by our court system, perpetrating the same crimes as before or worse. Our police departments are hampered by low pay, long hours and a legal system slanted toward the rights of the criminal, not the victim.
It is obvious that gun-control advocates have missed the mark and can't seem to understand that gun control works only for the ``bad guy.''
Maybe if criminals thought that Virginians are capable of protecting themselves, they would go elsewhere. Look what has happened to carjackings. It was once an everyday occurrence until some citizens decided they were fed up and fought back.
