WILLIAM J. FARLEY, MD

William ``Bill'' J. Farley, MD, 61, died February 18, 1995, at home.

Dr. Farley was a native of Trenton, Ontario, Canada, and a resident of Norfolk since 1986. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Virginia.

Dr. Farley earned his Doctor of Medicine at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, in 1959 and interned at McGill University in Montreal. In 1967 he and his family moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he became an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Calgary. In 1981 Bill became active in the field of chemical dependency treatment in the United States. He became the Medical Director at the William J. Farley Institute for Recovery, Hampton, Va., in 1988. Bill was a lover of family, nature and life. He took great pride in his work and his ability to help individuals in recovery. He will be dearly missed and well remembered by his family, and all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie E. Farley; and three children, Kelly Farley and her husband William White of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Dr. John Farley and his wife Jennifer of Birmingham, Alabama, David Farley of Oregon, Ill., his sister, Anne Paro of St. Ola, Ontario, Canada; his mother-in-law Thelma Ketcheson of Belleville, Ontario and her sons, Doug Ketcheson, Lyle Ketcheson, Bruce Ketcheson and their families.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday February 22, 1995, at First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Va. by Dr. Shepherd Russell. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either The American or Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of donor's choice, in Bill's name. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements.
