Fleetwood Homes of Virginia plans to build a second facility, which will double the housing manufacturer's production capacity and create more than 200 new jobs, Gov. George F. Allen said Monday. The $7.1 million facility will occupy 100,000 square feet in the Franklin County-Rocky Mount Industrial Park. The expansion was assisted by a $250,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund. The new plant will allow Fleetwood to increase its output from 60 homes a week to 120 a week, said Gary Clark, general manager of the Rocky Mount manufacturing center. The facility is expected to be completed in November. Fleetwood Homes of Virginia employs more than 250 workers and produces four of its most popular manufactured-housing products at its Rocky Mount facility.
