Forrest Auburn ``Dooley'' Barkley, Jr., 78, of the 400 block of Plummer Drive, died Sunday in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Barkley was born in Richmond, VA and was the son of the late Forrest A. Barkley, Sr. and Leona Ruebush Barkley. He was the widower of Irene Swarington Barkley. He had retired as a foreman of the Explosives Operations for the Norfolk Naval Supply Depot and for twenty years was with the Meiggs Hardware Store in Deep Creek. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He has been a member of Craddock United Methodist Church since 1926 and was its 4th oldest member. He was a member of the Craddock Post of VFW.
Survivors include one son, Frederick Auburn Barkley of Chesapeake and one sister, Doris Robins of Portsmouth.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. George Close. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7-8 p.m. at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Victim's Assistance Program, Chesapeake Sheriff's Department.
