Nancy Alberts Smith, 66, of the 200 block of Hunterdale Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Suffolk and was the daughter of the late Elmer V. and Ethel Speight Alberts. She was a 1946 graduate of Suffolk High School and a 1950 graduate of Duke University. Mrs. Smith was a former teacher in the Suffolk, Wakefield and Franklin public schools. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where she had served on the vestry and was a former Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Smith had served on the Library Board of the Walter Cecil Rawls Library and Museum in Courtland.
Survivors include her husband, Waring W. Smith Jr.; two daughters, Martha S. Holt of Marietta, Ga., and Ann Waring S. Ainsworth of Stephens City, Va.; two sisters, Mary A. Wheeler of Stony Creek, Va., and Vivian A. Costilow of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Stephen B. Holt, Nancy B. Holt, Sarah L. Ainsworth and Thomas W. Ainsworth.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. Edmund Pickup. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence and suggests memorials be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Endowment Fund. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
