Whale-watching trips with the Virginia Marine Science Museum have been extended through March 6, because of their popularity and success in sighting whales.
Between Jan. 13 - when the trips started - and Monday, more than 13,000 people went whale-watching. Whales were spotted on 85 percent of the excursions. They have been seen feeding, jumping out of the water and tail-slapping.
In addition to humpbacks, large fin whales and harbor porpoises have been seen.
Public trips are scheduled Fridays through Mondays. The cost is $12 for adults and $10 for children ages 11 and younger.
Reservations are necessary. They can be made by calling the museum at 437-4949 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. by CNB
