STRIPED-BASS SEASON TO BEGIN

At 12:01 a.m. March 1, the recreational season for striped bass fishing will open in the Albemarle Sound.

Hook-and-line anglers will be allowed to catch striped bass - also called rockfish - in the Albemarle, Currituck, Roanoke and Croatan sounds and all of their inland and joint water tributaries including Oregon Inlet.

Fishermen will be allowed to catch striped bass only on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Fish must be at least 18 inches long each. No one may keep more than three striped bass per day.

The recreational season on striped bass will close Saturday, April 15 - unless the quota is met earlier.

Striped bass fishing will remain prohibited in the Roanoke, Eastmost, Middle and Cashie rivers.
