TAMARA JOSEPH STUDENT ADVOCATE AT VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE

Tamara Joseph is the student advocate at Virginia Wesleyan College.

In this position, she serves as a liaison between the Student Government Association and the students and between the students and the administration.

A native of Panama, Joseph moved to the United States with her family when she was 14 years old. She still has relatives in Panama, and she visits there every summer. Last summer she interned as a secretary in the payroll branch of the Panama Canal.

Joseph, who graduated third in the class of 1992 at Lake Taylor High School, is a first semester senior at Virginia Wesleyan. She is majoring in political science and Spanish literature. This fall she will study at the University of Salzburg in Austria. She also has applied to the Central University of the Netherlands to pursue a master's degree in social science. She says she wants to go into foreign service.

In addition to acting as student advocate, Joseph also serves on the Agenda, Student Awareness and Welfare, Enrollment Management, and Budget committees. She is also a resident assistant.

A former dancer in the Panamanian Ballet, Joseph is involved in the theater program at the college as an actress and director. This spring she will be directing two plays.
