Signet Bank said it has begun marketing its student-loan program on the Internet, the worldwide computer network. The Richmond-based bank, which will complete the spinoff of its highly profitable credit-card unit next week, said it expects to apply the skills developed from processing card loans to the processing of other types of loans, including student loans. As part of its program to promote student loans via the Internet, Signet said it will answer questions and provide loan information and applications through an Internet electronic-mail address.
