Norfolk State has swept the player of the year awards handed out by the CIAA's coaches.
Corey Williams was voted the top men's player and Kristi Greene was named the top woman.
Williams, a 6-8 forward, averaged 20 points and 7.3 rebounds in leading Norfolk State to a 21-4 regular-season record. He said he was a little surprised to receive the award because he had a better year last season and didn't win it.
``I had an OK year,'' he said. ``I really thought I was going to get it last year, but I guess I didn't because it was my first time through the conference.''
Greene, a 6-foot senior, was a first-team All-American last year. She averaged a team-leading 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Joining Williams and Rice as All-CIAA selections are Spartan forward Derrick Bryant and Spartanette point guard Lisa Rice.
Bryant, a 6-5 junior, averaged 15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds, and led the conference in field goal percentage at 62 percent.
Rice, the career assist leader in Division II, was voted All-CIAA for the fourth time. The 5-3 senior was CIAA women's player of the year last year. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
