Cecil Ray Long, 79, of the 7900 block of Merritt St., died Feb. 23, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center.
Mr. Long was born in Blanchard, Iowa, and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Chapel. A U.S. Navy storekeeper, he retired as a master chief, and had also been employed with civil service at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. He was past president of Fleet Reserve Unit (NU)60. Martha, his wife of 58 years, preceded him in death in January of this year.
Survivors include a sister, Nona Brumley of Waterford, Calif.; and a brother, Floyd F. Long of Bakersfield, Calif.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in Our Lady of Victory Chapel, by Father John Kaul, Father James Mennis and Father William F. Cuddy. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, in Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Our Lady of Victory Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
