Mrs. Lydia Sawyer McPherson Early, 88, of the 1700 block of W. Ehringhouse St., died Sunday, Feb. 26, in the Albemarle Hospital. She was a native of Camden, N.C., and the daughter of the late John Logan and Emma Jane Taylor Sawyer. She was predeceased by her husband Oliver E. McPherson and was the widow of the late Graydon Early. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Early is survived by one daughter, Mary Frances McPherson Morrisette of Elizabeth City; three grandchildren, Marcella Fearing Morrisette of Nags Head, Lucien Oliver Morrisette of Camden, N.C., and Frances Morrisette Norrell of Elizabeth City; four great-grandchildren, April, Oliver and Spence Morrisette, all of Camden and William Norrell of Elizabeth City.
A visitation will be held Monday night at Twiford Memorial Chapel, Church Street, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to one's favorite charity or to the church. A graveside service will be private by the Rev. Margaret Saunders. Other than Monday night visitation, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Mary Frances Morrisette, 911 Riverside Ave. Twiford Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
