Hardy Leary Casper, 80, died Feb. 25, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
He was born in Gates County, N.C. and retired in 1982 as a superintendent from Ames & Webb Paving Contractors of Norfolk after 40 years. He was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Eure, N.C., and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Laursteen Umphlette Casper; a daughter, LaVerne Barkley and a son, Leary Wayne Casper, both of Virginia Beach; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Robert E. Hobson Jr. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The family requests that friends join them at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday for the procession to the cemetery for graveside services at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
