School Board Chairman Jessie Lee Jr. stepped down from his position Monday night, saying he wanted to give someone else a chance to lead. Vice Chairman Maury B. Brickhouse will take over the post.
Lee, who has served on the board for nearly five years and as chairman for nearly two, said, ``I want to thank the board for the support and the confidence they have shown me.''
Board member James J. Wheaton said Lee, 60, brought ``a level of openness to the community and to board members that was not always there.''
Brickhouse, 45, the director of juvenile court services for Chesapeake, has been on the board for five years and has been vice chairman since January. by CNB
