MAN CHARGED WITH FIREARM, DRUG POSSESSION

Police arrested a 27-year-old man on drug and firearms charges during a routine vehicle stop Monday.

Paxton Kirby Linton of the 500 block of Kilby Ave. was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a stolen firearm and other weapons charges.

Police recovered the gun, a .38-caliber semiautomatic, more than $1,000 in cash and a quantity of cocaine.

Linton was being held in Western Tidewater Regional Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
