Three members of Norcom High School's football team have accepted appointments to West Point and the Naval Academy.
Rod Richardson and Jarmaine Granger will attend West Point. Kevin Mapp will attend the Naval Academy.
``I think this might be a first for our area in having three young men from one football team get appointments to the military academies,'' said Norcom athletic director and football coach Joe Langston.
Richardson was the starting quarterback at Norcom the past two years, leading the Greyhounds to the Group AAA Division 5 state championship in 1993.
A 5-7, 155-pounder, Richardson passed for more than 1,000 yards in Norcom's championship season. In his two years as the starting quarterback the Greyhounds had a 22-2 record.
Granger is a 6-2, 180-pound wide receiver. Mapp is a 6-2, 190-pound tight end. by CNB
