HERBERT EURE

Herbert ``Hubby'' Melvin Eure, 68, of Albemarle Village Apartments, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 28, 1995, in Chowan Hospital.

A native of Perquimans County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Cornie Benton Eure and the widower of Bettie Langley Eure. He was a maintenance worker with Dr. Robert E. Lane and formerly worked with Hertford Baptist Church and W.M. Morgan Furniture Co. He was a member of Hertford Baptist Church and American Legion Post (NU)126 and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda B. Byrum of Tyner; a son, L. Earl Bass of Hertford; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a sister, Nannie E. Sutton of Virginia Beach; three nieces, Joyce Ward of Hobbsville, Marjorie S. Taylor of Churchland and Frances S. Whitley of Winston-Salem; three nephews, Lawrence Sutton of Virginia Beach, Ben Sitterson Jr. of Chesterfield, Va. and Carlton Sutton of Las Vegas.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Swindell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cedar Wood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at his home.
