COLLISION CLOSES BRIDGE FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR

Edward Midgette, 23, of Kill Devil Hills suffered a fractured ankle

and minor abrasions about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday when he apparently

fell asleep at the wheel while driving southbound on the high span

of the Wright Memorial Bridge, according to the Highway Patrol.

Midgette's compact car collided with a truck. Kitty Hawk

firefighters, above, wait with Midgette's vehicle. The bridge was

closed for more than an hour.
