J. Semmie James, 86, of the 700 block of Semmie Drive, died Thursday in a Virginia Beach nursing home.
Mr. James was born in Bethel, N.C., and was the son of the late John Henry James and Elizabeth Bullock James. He was the widower of Louise Grimes James. Mr. James was the retired manager of the Pungo Bridge Beach Marina. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one son, H. Steven James of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Hazel Rogerson of Speeds, N.C., and Annaliza Quigley of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one brother, Delbert James of Norfolk; one granddaughter, Lisa Gollihur and one grandson, Rusty James, both of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Joe Brewer. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Robersonville Cemetery, Robersonville, N.C. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
