This time, no need to guess who. It's William J. ``Jim'' Spain Jr. of Suffolk.
Try to guess what.
I'll even give you a hint. It's a Nimslo.
In 1988, he let me borrow his Nimslo for a trip I was taking to New York. I'd first seen Jim with his Nimslo during a Special Olympics in Surry.
It creates something that was more commonplace in the 1950s and 1960s, but you don't need anything special to enjoy the results. Some line the walls of his office as president/chief executive officer of Birdsong Peanuts.
Some of his results he generously gives to friends - generous because it can cost as much as $30.
To get those results, he mails ``it'' to Nevada. The thing that created ``it'' was made in England and is simple to use.
Finally, one of the nicest things Jim still does is to use it with some of the young men and women who live at the Zuni Presbyterian Training Center.
So, what is this Nimslo?
And what are the answers to these. . .
1. An Al Jolson trademark was to get down on one knee halfway through his performance, singing with a great emotion. What was the real reason he started singing in that position?
2. Boxing, sometimes referred to as the sport of boxing, is banned in two countries. What are they?
3. He was one of the most famous radio announcers of the 1930s and '40s, at one time working with Burns and Allen. Before that, he was a singer with Charlie Barnet's Orchestra. His greatest claim to fame concerned a blooper, introducing the ex-president as Hoovert Heever. Who did it?
4. Speaking of presidents, which one took the oath of office from his father?
5. Which two British actors each played the Frankenstein monster Dr. Fu Manchu, and the Mummy? One made his biggest hits in America.
