Captain William M. Mathews Jr., USNR Ret., 57, died March 4, 1995, in his residence.
Capt. Mathews was born in Doylestown, Pa. He was an active employee of the Army Corps of Engineers, District of Norfolk and was a retired Naval Flight Officer USNR.
Survivors include his wife, Gillian Gardiner Mathews; one daughter, Geneice C. Mathews of Virginia Beach; one son, Warren M. Mathews of Virginia Beach; mother, Bertha Mathews of Doylestown, Pa.; and one sister, Roslyn C. Auerback of Doylestown, Pa.
The graveside service will be Wednesday, March 8, 1995, at 2 p.m. in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel to receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Military honors will be accorded at the grave. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road Suite 146, Des Plaines, Ill. 60018-4110.
