OBLIGATION TO DIE?

``Israeli couple chooses suicide'' (news, Feb. 19) shows how far we've come. Once people thought they had the right to die only if they were terminally ill and in a lot of pain. Now the elderly feel obligated to commit suicide just in case they might become a problem to their children some day.

What will it take before we realize this concept has gone too far?
