On Feb. 23, I, together with 16 members of the current-events group of the Tidewater Jewish Community Center, had the opportunity to travel to our state Capitol. Observing the Senate and the House of Delegates from the gallery, we saw democracy working.
What struck me as particularly disquieting, however, was that all the Republican delegates were wearing American-flag neckties.
What a desecration! What an example to the visiting schoolchildren.
