I have a few questions after reading the article regarding the proposed amphitheater in Virginia Beach (news, March 6).
1. Does anyone remember seeing Bill Reid's name on the ballot? Does he even live here? If this is such a lucrative project, why doesn't his company, Cellar Door, agree to funding more of it?
2. Who made the statement that nearby residents will hear no more noise than a ``muffled conversation''? Do they have studies to prove this? I enjoy listening to the nearby Kellam High School Marching Band, but it doesn't have amplifiers and bass boosters.
3. What is the expected result to surrounding residential-property values if this amphitheater is built? Will the city furnish roadside trash pick-up and traffic control during these concerts?
4. Why does the proposed amphitheater have to be built by spring of 1996? When will there be a public hearing scheduled to accommodate working citizens?
5. How many other citizens would support an equally speedy response to the ``sick schools'' in our city? Or perhaps the building of a decent recreation center for Seatack?
6. What effect will this have on Landstown Middle School grounds and the security of the students on the grounds?
Sorry. Too many questions are not being asked, nor do the mayor and honorable council members have a history of giving direct answers to their constituents. Let Councilman William W. Harrison Jr. and Bill Reid pay for this white elephant out of their own pockets. I have better things to spend my money on.
