All 95 residents of the Glendale Nursing Home were evacuated for several hours Friday after a short circuit in a window heater sparked a fire that sent smoke through the facility.
No one was injured in the incident, which was reported at 5:50 p.m.
Damage, estimated at $5,000, was confined to a single room of the home in the 2500 block of E. Washington St.
Residents were taken to buses to protect them from the elements. The Red Cross was preparing to open a shelter for them, but it was not needed. by CNB
