Lassie Lucille Cowles, 60, of the 300 block of Washington Ave., died Monday, March 13, 1995, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
She was a native of Brunswick County, Va., daughter of the late Joe B. and Rebecca Powell Prince. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Franklin and was the widow of Julius Cowles.
She is survived by three sons, Eric Payne of Williamsburg, Va., Ulysses Payne Jr. of Kew Gardens, N.Y., and Abdul Salaam of Franklin, Va.; one sister, Joyce Braxton of Williamsburg; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral will be held on Friday, March 17, at 1 p.m. in Piney Grove Baptist Church, Franklin, with the Rev. Clarence Myrick officiating. Interment will be in Poplar Mount Baptist Church Cemetery in Brunswick County, Va. Viewing may be done one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Knox Funeral Service of Emporia, Va.
