James Edward Dutton Sr., 69, of the 3500 block of Dartmouth St., died Mar. 14, 1995, in his home.
He was a retired foreman for Diamond Construction Co., and was Methodist. He was a native of Gloucester County, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Edith O. Dutton; five daughters, Janice Dutton, Betty Butler, Pam Fugleman, all of Portsmouth, Joyce Newton of Chester, Va., and Phyllis Leonard of Mechanicsville, Va.; two sons, James Edward Dutton Jr. and Ronald Dutton, both of Portsmouth; three sisters, Ruby Lee Milby and Barbara Holt of Richmond, and Clara Faherty of Mechanicsville; two brothers, Roger Dutton of Norfolk and Eugene Dutton of Williamsburg; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be conducted at 11a.m. Thursday in Alexander Baptist Church, by the Rev. Alan G. Moor. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Loving Funeral Home.
