``The Seat of Wisdom,'' a new public sculpture by ODU professor
Victor Pickett, was dedicated Tuesday at Catholic High School in
Virginia Beach. Bishop Walter Sullivan, of the Diocese of Richmond,
said a prayer of blessing for the sculpture, which is an abstract
interpretation of a medieval Madonna and child. The polished
stainless steel form - 800 to 900 pounds and 5 1/2 feet tall - sits
on a 6-foot-tall base.
