More than 600 students at Tallwood Elementary attended an assembly
put by the Sentara Health Nuts, a group of colorful mascots who call
themselves such names as Cassie Cashew, Wally Walnut and Pete Peanut
and visit schools to talk about good health, nutrition, the food
groups and give other health tips. The life-sized mascots do a
20-minute program. They sing, dance and get the audience to
participate in energetic programs which teach wellness, prevention,
and safety such as eating right, getting regular checkups,
exercising, being safe and saying no to drugs. Tallwood was
celebrating Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week.
