Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases: NORFOLK

During the week of Feb. 27, in the 700 block of Merrimac Ave., authorities found four cats that had been mutilated.

One cat was dead, two others had to be euthanized and one was treated for its injuries but it, too, died two weeks later.

Police later learned that two more cats had been found dead, but a neighbor buried them before her children could see the violent act. VIRGINIA BEACH

On Sunday, Jan. 8, at 12:45 a.m., a 47 year-old man was sitting at his kitchen table in his home in the 1600 block of Southern Blvd. in the Oceana Gardens section when he heard a knock at the door.

When he opened the door, three armed men wearing masks forced their way inside. They knocked the victim to the floor and demanded money.

After getting a small amount of cash from his pockets, they shot the man twice and ransacked his home. The victim is still recovering from the shooting.

Police are looking for three men, all described as black and in their 20s. PORTSMOUTH

On Feb. 24, about 4 p.m., a 39-year-old Chesapeake man driving a company van pulled up to the Amoco station in the 3700 block of Victory Blvd.

A man approached the driver's door and pointed a handgun at the victim, ordering him to move over. The gunman and three other men climbed into the van, forcing the victim to the back of the vehicle where they beat, bound and gagged him.

After several hours of being driven around, the victim was taken to a vacant house at 322 Killian Ave. and left there for 32 hours.

The men are described as black, in their teens, anywhere from 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall. All were wearing dark hooded sweat shirts.

Rudolph Langston Sorrell, 34, is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery involving a 13-year-old juvenile.

Police have been searching for him for a month, but Sorrell has not been found.

On March 8, about 1 p.m., a young female student was grabbed and assaulted at the Paul D. Camp Community College campus.

The student was walking to class when she was approached from behind by a man.

She was manhandled and fondled by the man. After struggling with him and kicking him, the woman freed herself. She ran to her car, which was parked nearby, and left the scene.

The man is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 165 pounds, with large hands.

He was wearing a dark cap with a wide brim, a purple sweat shirt and blue jeans.

Police believe there was a witness to the assault in the parking lot. HAMPTON

Adam and Sharif Dunbar are wanted for the Jan. 25 murder of Mark Parker.

Adam Dunbar, 21, is described as black, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 200 pounds and has a dark complexion.

Sharif Dunbar, 20, is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 160 pounds.

In addition to the murder charges, both men are wanted for using a firearm while committing a felony.

Both suspects should be considered armed and dangerous. by CNB
