The family will receive friends at Bucktrout Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the College of William and Mary for the Agnes W. Paschall Scholarship Fund and mailed to the Director of Development, P.O. Box 8795, Williamsburg, Va. 23187-8795.
Born March 30, 1911, Mrs. Paschall attended public schools in Lunenburg County and received her B.S. degree from William and Mary in 1931. She participated extensively in student activities, including Kappa Delta sorority, the Monogram Club, the Athletic Council, basketball, track and field hockey, Mortar Board, the German Club, Phi Kappa Phi, the Lesslie Hall Literary Society and Delta Kappa Phi.
When she was inducted into the William and Mary Athletic Hall of Fame in December 1978, she was described as ``the outstanding woman athlete during her undergraduate years.'' She won four letters in basketball and was captain of the 1930 and 1931 teams. In track, she set records in the discus, high jump and the 75 and 100 yard dashes. She won varsity letters in field hockey in 1930 and 1931 and served as president of the Women's Athletic Association.
Following graduation, she taught in several schools of the state, including Douglas Freeman High School in Henrico County. She married Davis Y. Paschall, a member of the class of 1932 at William and Mary in the Wren Chapel on Dec. 22, 1938. The wedding was attended by many friends from Victoria, their hometown, as well as faculty and staff members of William and Mary. Their two children are also graduates of the college.
Mrs. Paschall was a member of the Eastern Star, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Rollingwood Garden Club. In October 1978, she was inducted into the White Rose Circle of Kappa Delta, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Alpha Pi Chapter of William and Mary, of which she was a charter member.
While president of William and Mary, Dr. Paschall dedicated his Ten-Year Report, ``Highlights of Progress, 1960-1970,'' to Mrs. Paschall with this tribute, ``Insofar as any personal achievements may have been reflected in this report, do I dedicate the Report to my wife. Above all, it has been her love, devotion, faith and unselfish service that has sustained me, and the shared feeling and appreciation of our Alma Mater that has inspired me in endeavoring to meet the demanding tasks, often at considerable sacrifice to self and family.''
