Sara Yaffe Klavans, 87, of the 1900 block of Claremont Drive, a retired school teacher with the Norfolk City Elementary School System, died Mar. 20, 1995.
Mrs. Klavans was a native of Portsmouth, Va. She was the widow of Adolphe William Klavans. She was a member of Beth El Temple in Norfolk.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Brown of Harrison, N.Y.; a son, Alan J. Klavans of Rye Brook, N.Y.; daughter-in-law Christina Klavans; son-in-law Dr. Jeffrey Brown; and four grandchildren; Thomas Klavans, Anne Charlotte Klavans, Holly Brown, Nicholas Brown; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Maurice Yaffe.
A chapel service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg and Cantor Jacob Tessler. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
