JAMES F. BASNIGHT

James F. Basnight, 77, a retired tool room mechanic, died March 21, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.

He was the widower of Grace G. Basnight, and had been employed with Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 36 years. He attended Word of Life Church, Virginia Beach, and was a native of Norfolk.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Linda Johnson of Norfolk; one sister, Mary Randolph of Norfolk; three brothers, Webb B. Basnight Jr. of Chesapeake, A.A. ``Joe'' Basnight of Midlothian, Va., Wm. Harry Basnight of Norfolk; and one step-grandson, Timothy Babarisi of Norfolk.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverside Memorial Park by Dr. Andrew McDearmid. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m., and other times at the home of Harry Basnight. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
