MACON N. SALTER

Macon N. Salter, 72, of the 6300 block of Shelby Lane, died in his residence.

Mr. Salter was born in Grandy, N.C., and was the son of the late Walton B. and Ruth Hart Salter. He had retired as a sheet metal mechanic from Shop 17 of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He had also retired from the U.S. Navy as a builders chief. Mr. Salter was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 2; Fleet Reserve, Branch 99; a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4809; American Legion, Post 110; a life member of the National Rifle Association, the Virginia Beach Rifle and Pistol Club and the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Visitation will be held this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., with a Fleet Reserve ceremony being held at 7:30 p.m.
