John Howard Holley, 70, of the 800 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd., died Tuesday, March 21, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Holley was a native of Tyner, N.C., and son of Ella M. Twine Holley of Portsmouth and the late John Elton Holley. He was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Delores Brothers Holley of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Eugenia Holley-Wright of Nashville; two sons, Howard M. Holley Sr. of Vienna, Va., and Elton D. Holley of Reston, Va.; two sisters, Justine Holley of Norfolk and Winnie H. Morrow of Portsmouth; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Paula Y. Holley and Barbara C. Holley; son-in-law, Benjamin Wright; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Riddick Funeral Service by the Rev. Harris Tucker. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral will assemble at 12:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
