Martha J. Blackmon of the 500 block of Farmer St., died Saturday at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.
Mrs. Blackmon was a native of Walstonburg, N.C., but had resided in Virginia for a number of years before moving to Petersburg in 1951. She was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Holmes of Virginia Beach; a number of nieces and nephews, among them Evette Dixon, Kittrel Dixon, John Dixon and Daryl Dixon, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; a number of cousins, among them Randolph Eason and Eugene Eason of Norfolk and Johnella Hines of North Carolina; a host of other relatives from Tillery, N.C.; and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be conducted today at 3 p.m. in Colonial Grove Memorial Cemetery, Virginia Beach, with the Rev. Harry C. Poole officiating. The family may be contacted at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Alice Holmes, 3048 Kings Row Court, Virginia Beach. Tucker's Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, is handling arrangements.
