Two captions with Wednesday's Daily Break story on the Hunton
YMCA had errors. Sharon Taylor, a Norfolk State student, is a tutor;
the caption erroneously said she was receiving math tutoring. And
Kevin Keene, director of the learning center, was tutoring Mable E.
Taylor, who is preparing to take the GED; the caption had their
roles reversed.
Also, the Hunton Y in Norfolk does not house up to 130 homeless
people every night, as stated in the story. The Y is one of a number
of area facilities that shelter the homeless on a rotating basis.
A lecture on ``Extraterrestrial Contact: Implications for
Planetary and Interplanetary Unity'' will be given by Dr. Steven M.
Greer at 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday at the Virginia Air and
Space Center/Hampton Roads History Center, 600 Settlers Landing
Road, Hampton. The Saturday time was wrong in a Daily Break story
Wednesday.
The Navy submarine Cheyenne will be christened Saturday, April 1,
not this Saturday, as reported on Wednesday's Military News page.
The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. at Newport News
Shipbuilding.
A Crime Line item in Sunday's Metro News section had
misinformation in the description of a man sought in an attack at
the Paul D. Camp Community College in Suffolk. Police now describe
him as white, 5 feet 7 and 165 pounds.
A box with a story about singer Mark Collie in Wednesday's Daily
Break had an incorrect phone number for ticket information for his
Sunday show at Heartbreak Alley in Newport News. The number is
245-3313. Also, the name of the band that will perform with him was
incorrect. It is Cheyenne.
