School Board members have chosen Barbara B. Head to be their second-in-command.
Head, 44, who has been on the board since August 1992, was elected unanimously to be vice chairman. She replaces Maury B. Brickhouse, who took over the chairman's position last month after Jessie Lee Jr. resigned.
Lee subsequently stepped down from the nine-member board. City Council members now are considering who to appoint as a replacement.
Head is a management assistant at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. by CNB
