I heard recently on TV the most amazing statement coming out of the mouth of our president. Your newspaper may have missed it.
Actually, I tend to ignore the constant drivel that Clinton utters, and this was probably taken out of context. However, if what he said is what he really believes (and who can vouch for that?), then anti-abortion advocates and right-to-lifers have found the perfect statement of belief with which to skewer the Clinton administration.
He said (referring to the Republicans' plan for welfare reform), ``I think it's wrong to make children pay the price of their parents' mistakes.''
Well, the Democrats are always blathering about how the Republicans intend to take food out of the mouths of starving children, which simply isn't true. Then, I thought, Whoa!, isn't that exactly what the pro-choice advocates are doing - making unborn children pay for their parents' mistakes? Whether the woman is married or not, every child has two parents (it's a law of nature), and if the woman (or pubescent teen) has become pregnant unintentionally and seeks an abortion, isn't that a mistake? And who pays? The unborn baby!
Clinton has inadvertently stumbled onto the truth for a change. If only the pro-lifers can latch onto his very words to make their point instead of staging demonstrations and harassing people, I think their crusade just might succeed.
